The Blacksmiths Guild was approached by Bath Iron and asked if we would like to put forward a team leader. I was selected and straight away grabbed Nick Bates and James Crossman to be part of the team. The design and development of the panel was very much a team effort of all 3 of us. We researched for musical instruments that would have been used in Bath during Roman times and chose to represent a Roman Cithara which is a member of the Greek Lyre family. A Cithara can have anything from 2 to 7 strings. The modern Greek word kithara has come to mean Guitar.
