Heritage Ironwork Seminar

Event Description

A one day seminar discussing and debating

  • What is a safe way to work with lead?
  • How do you make and replicate moulds for lead castings?
  • In what way can you safely remove iron from lead fixings in stone work?
  • How can you safely fix ironwork in stone using lead?

Each topic will begin with a presentation or demonstration from experienced professionals following which discussions will be opened to attendees. The purpose of this event is not just to educate but to stimulate discussion with the exchange of information and opinion.

The aim of the day is to establish some common ground with best practice – the outcome of which the National Heritage Ironwork Group will develop into a set of best practice guidelines.

Everyone, of all levels of experience, who is interested in or working on heritage ironwork should come along, get involved and have a say!
